Feedback Loop

Saturday, September 17th, 2005

I found BentUser while searching Technorati for mentions of TopDesk. It’s a nice site that has detailed reviews software and hardware, and popped up on the search because they just so happened to review TopDesk.

There’s one thing that I think could be improved though – as far as I can tell there’s absolutely no way to provide them with feedback on their articles. The ability to comment on an article would be nice, but at the very least I think there should be an email address or contact form that you can fill in. As it stands, this blog is the only way I have of reaching them.

So if anyone from BentUser reads this, I’d like to say: “thanks for the review, that windows aren’t full hidden so they can be recovered if something goes wrong with the system, and that if you turned off ‘update window images before tiling’ and turned on ‘live window updates’ you’d see much better performance.”

Turning Japanese

Friday, September 16th, 2005

I’m pleased to announce that TopDesk is now distributed in Japan by P. & A., Inc.. If you have any questions or would like to talk about distributing TopDesk in another country, feel free to shoot us off a sales enquiry.

Affiliates

Monday, September 5th, 2005

The switch over to a Plimus store went smoothly so we’re now looking at one of the other features offered by Plimus: affiliates. There’s a topic on the forums that goes into the details, but the gist of it is “how do users feel about TopDesk being sold by affiliates, and, if we were to go ahead with it, are any users interested in becoming one”? Let us know what you think.

XalKeys

Al Berry from TheChoad has written an excellent utility called XalKeys that lets you use an Apple Mighty Mouse with TopDesk.

What’s in store

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

We’ve switched our online store payment gateway from PayPal to Plimus . We’ve never had any problems with the PayPal store, but the PayPal ordering process is a bit clunky and long-winded. The new store should provice a much more “streamlined” ordering experience. For customers who bought TopDesk using the old store, it’s business as usual – you’re download links will still work (if they haven’t expired), and you’ll still be able to track your purchase using PayPal.

Let us know what you think of the change. Depending on the feedback we get from customers we’ll either keep the Plimus store, switch back to PayPal, or offer both. If you’ve got any questions about the new store, please submit a customer service request.
