Hi Rich,

The taskbar will show only the programs running on the current desktop, except in the case of pinned programs. Pinned programs will appear in the taskbar on every desktop, and unpinning a program on one desktop will unpin it on every desktop.

Can each desktop have different programs pinned to the taskbar, or does the taskbar have to be the same on every desktop?

I ask this because I unpinned programs on the taskbar on one desktop and I then found that those programs were unpinned from every other desktop as well.

I'm using Windows 7 x64 bit

DMS2: To show all gadgets on all desktops you need to add an application rule. You can do this by going to the Manage Desktop Application Rules dialog, adding an application rule for "SIDEBAR.EXE", specifying that "Show on all desktops", and then clicking "Save Changes".

If you run into any problems setting up the application rule please let me know and I'll be happy to help.

True, I gathered that much about the system. I just preferred the eye candy is all and I thought I might tell ya'll. Like I said, it was just a small feature request is all. Thanks though.

Hi Kai,

Under Windows 7 both DeskSpace and Win7 use the edges of the screen for very different purposes. Since DeskSpace 1.5.7 we get around this by turning off window dragging by default when DeskSpace runs on Windows 7. This is only for a fresh installation of DeskSpace, however, so if you're upgrading DeskSpace won't change the settings. In this case you can go into the "General Options->Activation" tab and uncheck the "Automatically Switch Desktops When Window Dragged Out Of Screen" option to turn off DeskSpace window dragging.

Please note that with window dragging turned off you can still move windows to other desktops by dragging and dropping them in the DeskSpace system tray menu.

Hello Mr. Stewart, it's me again. I'm not reporting a bug, but I would like to put in a feature request. I just completed migrating from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 ultimate (after all the beta testing I did for Microsoft all the way up to the RTM, and I just noticed something: DeskSpace doesn't compensate for the AeroSnap feature in Windows 7 when dragging windows to the edge of the screen. Instead, DeskSpace believes I'm wanting to drag the window to another desktop. Is there any work around y'all could put in (maybe only change desktops via window dragging when a certain key is pressed, or something) to compensate for windows 7?

Just an idea; so far, no bugs in windows 7.

Hi Novin,

Yes, it's possible. You can move Windows desktop gadgets to different desktops by dragging and dropping them in the DeskSpace system tray menu. If you have any questions about how to do this please let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Hi Richard,

Unfortunately it hasn't been fixed in this version. We're forced to disable "align to grid" (and "auto arrange") because if we don't then Windows forces all icons onto the one desktop. We're working on how to prevent this, but it's going to require some serious engineering to overcome this particular problem.
